OPPORTUNITY FOR A PSYCHOMETRIC RESEARCHER

PAI (People Assessment in Industry) has a one-year, part-time, fixed-term contract position (renewable on an annual basis) available for a suitably qualified individual with a strong psychometric background. A Master’s degree in Psychology, together with registration as a Psychologist with the HPCSA is preferably required. The successful applicant will ideally have a number of years of psychometric assessment experience, a substantial number of which should be in an organisational/industrial psychology setting.

Key performance areas will include conducting literature surveys and compiling a database on research findings regarding psychometric assessment tools (local and international) used in organisational and industrial psychology contexts. The successful applicant will need to be able to provide an informed opinion to members of the PAI in relation to the use of such tests (e.g., validity, reliability, bias and fairness) within these contexts. In addition, the person will be required to interact with professional bodies to promote best practice in industrial and organisational psychometric assessment, as well as interact with university departments to promote research in this area.

Core competencies include very strong psychometric theoretical and technical knowledge and skill, research capability, good relationship-building and networking skills, and the ability to work independently. An interest in, and exposure to, training and development will be an advantage. Computer proficiency is required.

Salary is negotiable and commensurate with the levels of responsibility of the position, as well as experience.
