A problem arises when a significant difference is found between the average performance of different groups on an assessment instrument, resulting in the lower scoring group finding it more difficult to comply with an organisation s selection requirement. Given South Africa s Employment Equity legislation and subsequent protection of designated groups, this causes concern for organisations in that the use of the tests may cause indirect discrimination against designated groups.

To address these concerns, People Assessment in Industry (PAI) is proud to invite you to a symposium and workshop on Fair Assessment in Organisations , featuring Dr James Outtz, CEO of Outtz and Associates (USA) . During his workshop, Dr Outtz will be discussing how to ensure fairness in your selection systems, how to minimise adverse impact, and understanding the fairness of different methods of assessment, amongst other things.

Dr Outtz has nearly 30 years experience as a consultant and expert witness on a variety of legal cases, including numerous race discrimination cases.
